Bath Playdough

Mums, here is an amazing way to entertain and help your little ones during crazy hour! Provide a sensory experience that helps to calm & nourish mind as well as body. Save this for the upcoming school holidays, those rainy days stuck at home or when you need to help your kids during times of sickness/emotional regulation.

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • 1/2 Cup of Castile Liquid Soap

  • 2 Tbs Fractionated Coconut Oil (or other carrier oil e.g. Jojoba)

  • 1 1/2 Cups of Corn Flour/Arrow root powder

  • 10-20 drops of Medicinal Grade Essential oils - I use DoTerra.

Lavender, Balance, Frankincense, Wild Orange are a few kid safe oils you can use.

Add in as desired for additional sensory play:

Food colouring /Dried Herbs and flowers (Lavender, Rose petals, Rosemary, Thyme, Mint etc.)

HOW TO MAKE:

1) In a bowl combine Liquid castile soap, carrier oil, essential oils & food colouring.

2) In another bowl mix the flour & dried herbs or flowers if you are adding them.

3) Add in flour/dried flower mix to the liquid bowl gradually while stirring, then progress to use your hands to combine.

4) This is where you use your feel! if the mixture is too dry - add more soap/oil or if too wet add some more flour. You can also get an idea here of the strength of essential oils in your dough. I always add less to start with and then add more in here if needed.

5) Roll into balls to hand out at bath time or just keep the whole mixture in an airtight container or Jar to use as needed.

Remember - its low tox! No nasty preservatives means use it sooner rather than later.

This simple, interactive and therapeutic recipe provides sensory play, Medicinal grade Essential oils for emotional/physical support for your kids.

Remember with any activity involving kids - always supervise! Essential Oils are not for internal use in children so with this in mind practice caution for children under 5 years of age (it does look good enough to eat!). Be mindful or your child’s sensitivities/allergies, It is a gentle mix for young skin but everyone is different. You can always try a skin patch test first.
